The CAST BLOCKWORKS arose from an attempt to consolidate the relationship between mass and space that had become dispersed in earlier BLOCKWORKS, where the matrices were constructed from six pre-determined rectangular block sizes and had a grid-rule in the their cross-binding.
The CAST BLOCKWORKS replace anatomy with architectonic volumes using stacking, cantilever and balance to achieve a stable structure that is still dynamic.
Increasingly, the blocks have become more robust, often extending beyond the skin in an attempt to evoke particular feelings and tensions. The challenge is to find a way to employ this architectonic language to provoke empathetic feeling.
