CONSTRUCTED ATAXIA, 2007

The CONSTRUCTED ATAXIA works are revised versions of the cast ATAXIA works and use the same 6 sizes of blocks. They relate to architecture and like the ATAXIA series, evoke the internal state of the body beneath the skin.

Each block has a unique position within the tightly packed body volumes to evoke internal tension.

These works are different from the symmetrical and hieratic bodies to date. The forms twist, turn or fold about their own axes and in spite of the sharp material clarity of the steel blocks, betray a sense of vulnerability and exposure.
