A CASE FOR AN ANGEL, 1989 - 2006

I wanted to make a bodywork that was a visual block - like a wall, or a piece by Richard Serra. The CASE FOR AND ANGEL sculptures are the final expression of the EXTENDED WORKS.

They extend the body laterally, creating a strong horizon line that runs across the body, separating head from breast.

The title, A CASE FOR AN ANGEL, is making a case for the imagination. The work is a barrier against which the visitor tests himself.

The relationship of work to room is important: the later double Angel cases, installed together, create an arena for the viewer.
