Does space exist inside the body as much as outside? Is consciousness itself spatial?

Most of the BODY & LIGHT drawings were made at night in the Lake District at a house on Coniston Water. The open and fluid nature of drawing is investigated and its almost limitless possibilities celebrated.

The drawings consider light as energy and body as space. The relationship of container and contained (whether by water, earth or light) is explored  in medium and imagery: the body's relationship to another body; the relationship of the body to the Earth; falling bodies and foetal forms identified by a penumbra of light, floating in darkness or enclosed a single line, floating in light.

They make reference to immersion in water and weather, the feeling of being down and looking up, or allude to breaks and apertures. Depth is explored, as is the notion of going places in drawing which are not possible in life or sculpture: outer space or deep water. This delving into depth is also examined through the macroscopic and microscopic. They are oracular rather than definitive; evoking rather than describing.

The one exception is the work FLESH, which is a study for the making of a solid concrete cross with a body void inside.
